This document describes additional issues that arise when a quantity of primarily viscous hydrocarbon 

liquid is measured using flowmeters at ambient or elevated operating temperatures. The effects of high 

viscosities and potentially high temperatures can induce additional errors in measurement. The effect 

of such conditions and fluids upon meters, auxiliary equipment and fittings are discussed, along with 

advice and warnings to overcome or mitigate difficulties.
